Welcome, Tiny Overlord!

You know the baby I mentioned I was expecting in this post? Well, he's finally here! Ten days late, like any self-respecting Transylvanian, but healthy and very hungry. And so, so loved :)

Yay, I'm an aunt!

The 101st post

Yes, my dear hypothetical readers, I have thus far given you one hundred updates to my hectic, crafty, sunny and tough Transylvanian life! I never thought I would post so regularly, but I have really enjoyed keeping you up to date with my comings and goings. Let's have a virtual drink and toast to the longevity of my travel blog! For he's a jolly good social interaction mediuuuuum....

I'm tired as hell, I don't think I've had one whole hour to myself in the past month. On the upside, it seems that my life is heading into a new and thrilling direction. I'm curious to see how it will go and where it will take me. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted :>

Ok, now I guess it's time for an update to cover my 6 week absence from the world of blogs. The excuse for my absence? A new job (added to my previous 2). Can you guess what it is? Here, I'll give you a clue:
And before I got this new job, I had a month full to the brim with love. I don't know how else to express it better, except that I felt pure joyful love...
...for the people around me
...and the experiences we had together.
For the divine music we listened to...
...and the hungover exhaustion that followed.
For some indescribably beautiful places that are close to my heart...
...and the daydreams they usually bring to life in my overactive imagination.
For the unique beauty you can find on the dark side...
For simple things that never cease to awe me...
...and the liberating, tingling feeling commonly known as "being yourself".
This past period was everything I have ever been known to resonate to. It was fun, it was gothic, it was crazy, it was medieval, it was sunny, it was dark, it was tasty, it was me.

Omg... is it possible that I might actually be happy ?

Happy Day

Yesterday was easily in the top 5 of happiest days this year. I had been dreaming of owning some of Sven Nordqvist's books for a year, and now I do! I ordered them last month, and they went a long and curly way, from Sweden to Holland to Bucuresti to my trembling, expectant hands.

They exerted such a fascination on me when I first saw them in Sweden, that I just had to have them in my house sooner or later. I based stuffed creatures on the mucklor in the book, I drove my friends crazy with excited accounts of the silly drawings inside, I wished I had a cat like Findus... Is it very weird for a grown-up to be so excited over children's books?

But they are not just children's books, they are Swedish reading practice material! Så ska jag lära mig svenska och leka på samma gång :>

The appearance of the books in my house caused quite a stir among the population of Transylvanian mucklor, locally known as "mişumaci". Here is what happened:

Probably the best Sunday ever

Well, at least for a long long time. Everyone was in such good spirits, the weather was perfect, the trees were so beautiful one felt like hugging them (which we did, actually, but don't tell anyone), the forest was full of berries... what more could you wish for? Maybe a good rock climbing spot, but we'll get to that too.

It started on a crisp and early morning, which I spent being awfully car sick, going up mountains on winding roads. But the view...
It continued with a somewhat-directionally-challenged walk through the forest. It took a while to find the way; but the view...

Once the way was found, a further delay was added to the schedule, occasioned by the discovery of blueberries. Lots of blueberries. Everywhere. Enough to turn even the grumpiest cynic into a frolicking, little stained child. But the view...
Upon finally reaching our destination, we climbed enthusiastically, continually and merrily until total exhaustion and complete filth. The view... was mostly of butts.

The lichens were all over meee!
P.S. The good photos are obviously not mine :>
